Ayurveda originates in India. It is a holistic system of medicine using a constitutional model to provide guidance regarding food and lifestyle. Practitioners believe every person is made of the five basic universal elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth. They combine to form three life forces called doshas. The Vata dosha (space and air); Pitta dosha (fire and water); and Kapha dosha (water and earth).
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consist of techniques and theories rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy (Taoism); some forms include acupuncture, massage, and herbal remedies. TCM was termed by the Chinese Government in 1940-50s, through the combination of many diverse forms of Chinese medicine to achieve an organized health service delivery system.
Acupuncture: treat pained conditions and regional anesthesia by passing various shapes of long thin needles through the skin to stimulate specific acupoints, directly influencing energy flow.
